Ten photocopied letters, written to Colonel Benjamin Allen, 16th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, by other Civil War soldiers serving in the Mississippi River area; including some official correspondence concerning medical discharges and prisoners; also includes a description by Brig. Gen. John McArthur, of the Confederate raid on Holly Springs (Miss.) and an inspection report of the 6th Division, Army of the Mississippi, at Corinth (Miss.) on July 1, 1862. The report describes regimental conditions of the 2nd, 16th, and 17th Wisconsin, and the 3rd, 4th, 21st, and 23rd Missouri.
